Skin lesions can differ considerably in appearance, structure and the treatment they require. A raised growth may be a skin tag, seborrhoeic keratosis or wart, while a blood spot or thread vein forms from small blood vessels within the skin.

You do not need to identify the lesion or choose a treatment before booking.
During your consultation, we will examine the area, discuss how long it has been present and explain the most appropriate treatment option. We will also confirm the cost, expected healing and whether more than one session is likely before you decide whether to proceed.
When the lesion is suitable and sufficient appointment time is available, treatment can usually take place immediately following the consultation.
If an area is unclear or requires assessment outside the clinic, we will explain this before any treatment is carried out.
Skin Tags
Skin tags are soft, skin-coloured or slightly darker growths that project from the surface of the skin. They commonly develop around the neck, underarms, groin, eyelids and areas affected by friction.
They may appear individually or in larger groups and can catch on clothing, jewellery or razors.
Skin tags are usually treated with advanced electrolysis. Multiple skin tags can often be treated during one appointment, with the cost determined by their size, location and quantity.
Seborrhoeic Keratosis
Seborrhoeic keratoses are raised, textured growths that may appear waxy, rough or as though they are sitting on the surface of the skin. They range from pale beige to dark brown.
They commonly develop on the face, chest and back and may become thicker or more noticeable over time.
Depending on their presentation, they may be treated with advanced electrolysis or cryotherapy.

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra
Dermatosis papulosa nigra, commonly shortened to DPN, causes small, smooth, dark-brown or black raised lesions. They most frequently appear on the face and neck and are particularly common in deeper skin tones.
The lesions may develop gradually and become more numerous over time, particularly across the cheeks, temples and neck.
Suitable DPN lesions can be treated precisely with advanced electrolysis. Multiple lesions may be treated during the same appointment depending on their number, location and the skin’s response.

Milia
Milia are small, firm white or cream-coloured bumps formed by keratin trapped beneath the surface of the skin.
They commonly appear around the eyes, cheeks and forehead. Unlike spots, they do not have an opening and can be difficult to release without professional treatment.
A precise opening is created so the trapped material can be carefully removed. Several milia may be treated during the same appointment.
Cherry Angiomas and Blood Spots
Cherry angiomas—often called blood spots—are small red or purple vascular marks. They may be flat or slightly raised and often become more numerous over time.
Because they are formed from small blood vessels, they require a different treatment approach from skin tags or other raised growths.
Depending on their size and presentation, treatment may involve VeinAway or advanced electrolysis.

Thread Veins
Thread veins are small, visible blood vessels that commonly appear on the face and legs. They may present as individual red lines, branching vessels or small clusters.
At our clinic, thread veins are treated using VeinAway.
Appointments are available for a single vessel or small cluster, the face or a small body area, and larger areas such as the legs.
Xanthelasma
Xanthelasma appears as soft, pale-yellow or cream-coloured deposits, usually around the upper or lower eyelids.
Because of its delicate location and the way the deposit sits within the skin, xanthelasma requires a precise approach.
Advanced electrolysis can be used to progressively reduce suitable xanthelasma, with multiple areas treated together where appropriate.
Warts
Warts are firm, textured growths caused by a viral infection within the skin. They commonly develop on the hands and fingers but can appear elsewhere, either individually or in clusters.
We treat suitable warts using both advanced electrolysis and cryotherapy.
Advanced electrolysis offers a precise and highly effective approach that directly targets the affected tissue. In some cases, it may provide a stronger option than cryotherapy, particularly for persistent warts.
Cryotherapy works by freezing the affected tissue and encouraging an immune response against the virus.
The most appropriate method is determined during consultation according to the wart’s size, location, depth and treatment history.

Verrucas
Verrucas are warts that develop on the soles of the feet. Pressure from standing and walking can make them appear flatter, sometimes with an area of harder skin covering the surface.
They can become uncomfortable when positioned on a weight-bearing part of the foot and may prove resistant to home treatments.
We offer both advanced electrolysis and cryotherapy for suitable verrucas. Advanced electrolysis precisely targets the affected tissue and may be the preferred option for persistent or previously treated verrucas.
The treatment method is selected during consultation after assessing the size, location, depth and number of verrucas present.
Cysts
Cysts are enclosed lumps that form beneath the skin. They vary in size, depth and contents, so the appropriate treatment depends on their presentation.
Small, suitable superficial cysts may be reduced using advanced electrolysis. This provides a precise, non-surgical option where the cyst sits close to the surface.
Larger sebaceous cysts requiring complete removal are treated surgically by Dr Ahmed. A separate doctor’s consultation is required before surgery so the cyst and planned procedure can be properly assessed.
Ingrown Hairs
An ingrown hair develops when a hair becomes trapped beneath the skin or grows back into the surrounding tissue. This can create a visible bump, inflammation or recurring tenderness.
Advanced electrolysis can be used to release suitable ingrown hairs. Electrolysis hair removal may also be discussed where repeated regrowth contributes to the problem.
Dermatofibromas
A dermatofibroma is a firm, rounded bump that commonly appears on the legs or arms. It may be skin-coloured, pink or brown and often feels fixed beneath the surface.
Its structure differs from a skin tag or surface keratosis, so the treatment approach and expected improvement are assessed individually.

Age Spots
Age spots are flat areas of pigmentation that commonly develop on sun-exposed areas such as the face and hands.
They differ from raised lesions because the concern is pigment within the skin rather than excess tissue.
Suitable age spots may be treated using VeinAway following assessment.

Treating Multiple Lesions Together
Where practical, several lesions can be treated during the same appointment. This is particularly useful for clients with multiple skin tags, milia, blood spots, DPN or seborrhoeic keratoses.

What to Expect After Treatment
Healing depends on the lesion and treatment method. The area may temporarily appear red, swollen, darker or crusted while the skin recovers.
You will receive aftercare instructions specific to your treatment. It is important to avoid picking the area and allow any crusting to separate naturally.
Some lesions may require further treatment, particularly larger growths, vascular concerns, warts and verrucas.
