PDO Threading

Unfortunately, as we all know, ageing has a significant and detrimental effect on the dermal tissues around the face; this results in downward migration of the “malar fat” within the facial cheeks due to the loss of supporting elastic and collagen fibres within the dermis. This inevitably causes a tired and sagging effect in middle age which many people find difficult to accept and sometimes this “look” causes a loss of confidence. Previously the only option available was to have a surgical operation under general anaesthetic costing thousands of pounds and requiring an admission to hospital.

We are now able to offer a very similar outcome for our clients by way of a far less traumatic procedure using PDO (Polydiaxonone) beauty threads to provide a sustained lift that will usually last between 2-3 years. In fact it costs far less money and further lifts can also be carried out when necessary. PDO beauty threads provide a very effective, safe and efficient method of lifting the superficial tissues of the face and neck.

They are particularly useful in giving an immediate effect but one that also improves as the skin forms its own collagen that naturally tightens around the supporting threads. The fibres making up the thread dissolve naturally under the tissue over a period of about six months. Using specific and specialized techniques we can reduce the unsightly features of sagging skin causing “jowls and turkey neck.” As the procedure can also help to improve the appearance of nasolabial folds and marionette lines it can help to give you a more youthful appearance.

What you can expect

Once you have had the PDO Beauty Lift Thread treatment, your skin will feel smoother, your pores will be narrowed and your skin tone will be lightened. It is a perfect procedure for recreating volume in the right places as well as lifting the skin in places where it was previously sagging. Unlike with invasive surgeries there is absolutely no preparation needed before the treatment begins. You won’t have to spend long in the clinic, as it is an incredibly efficient procedure, and you’ll notice an instant effect after you leave.

How does it work?

Polydioxanone has been shown to encourage the production of new collagen in the deeper layers of the skin by a process known as neocalagenesis. The stimulation of fibroblasts in the dermis also helps to stimulate synthesis of elastin which is the protein that determines the elasticity and strength of the skin. There is some evidence to suggest that Polydiaxonone also helps to stimulate the synthesis of natural hyaluronic acid and this has the effect of improving skin hydration.

Best of all, you won’t have any scars or nasty marks on your skin around the areas that have received the treatment. The beauty threads are completely invisible whilst they are under the skin tissue, meaning you can more or less continue with life as before. They also completely dissolve within six months and so you can have further treatments if you so wish. In fact the only comments people will make is about how great you look.

Aftercare:

There is likely to be some bruising and swelling following this procedure but this settle within two weeks. It is recommended that clients try sleeping on their back for approximately 5 days after the procedure. Mouth opening may also feel limited for a few weeks and therefore it is important to have completed any dental treatment prior to the procedure.

Combination Therapies

The full spectrum of other therapies can all be used subsequently e.g. dermal fillers, Botox and PRP. Further PDO threads can also be inserted in the future if required
